Homework for the week of Sept.8, 2014

Congratulations! You have found my blog which 

will help you know which homework assignments 

are due each week, and now you can help feed my 
penguin! 

Important Information:

Homework each week will include reading, responding

to reading, practicing spelling words, and math. You will
need a sturdy, two-pocket folder to bring to and from 
school each day. This will be used to organize important 
papers that need to go home or need to be sent back.  

Occasionally for homework, study reviews will be sent home 

before tests in health, social studies, and science. 

Math (for 259 and 261):

The math homework is set up for Monday through 

Thursday. It is best if you do not go ahead in math 

because we will practice each lesson before the 

homework assignment, which will help with understanding.
It will also be important to practice memorizing multiplication 
facts each week.   

You have been given the first math notebook for your 
math homework. Please show your work whenever 
possible. In class you will often be asked to share out 
your answer on the smart board and explain how 
you solved the problem. If you show your work, it will
be easier for you to explain your answer. 
Also, you have been given a math textbook to use for 
homework. Please take care of these books. They will 
be collected back in June.

Reading: Read and record your home reading in the
monthly calendar. Keep this calendar page in your homework 
folder and turn this in at the end of each month with a list of
books you have read. Also, have a parent initial the calendar. 
You can start recording any books you have read this month. 

Reading Comprehension: This will begin next Monday. They
              will be due on Thursdays. 

Spelling: The first list should be in your homework folder.
              Spelling tests will usually be on Fridays. 

Math:   Monday - p.5 (8-16) and (20-23)

                Tuesday - p.7 (all)

           Wednesday - p.8 (7-15) and p.9 (16-19)
